[DAIKO/Daiko’s philosophy] Providing value

When asked, “Does Daiko manufacture goods?”
Our reply is, “No. What we do is create value

We create new value as wire professionals.

We concentrate our efforts not only on existing manufacturing but also on the creation of new value. To put it bluntly without worrying whether we will be misunderstood, “de/wire rope” is the theme of our business. We do not content ourselves with the status quo, believing that the creation of business which includes new perspectives to be the most fitting for we who call ourselves a “wire rope specialist.” In recent years we have kept a close eye on a variety of wire rope markets both domestically and overseas in such locations as Germany, Switzerland, Singapore, Korea, and China. In addition, we have explored the future possibilities of wire rope. Cars, housing, accessories, interior decorations, design, national defense, global, outer space… The list is unending. Going forward, wire rope will continue to experience growth in any and every area.

[DAIKO/Future business domains] Tapping every possibility

Satisfaction with the status quo leads to
unfulfilled future potential.

Changing our perspective lead to the creation of new business fields.

Seeking out new business needs resulted in the creation of Gokunan. Prior to the release of this product, we tended to focus on how hard and strong of a wire we could create for a given budget and set of specifications, but then we changed our mindset. We began looking at how our customers could use a soft and flexible wire, offering them Gokunan. And using Gokunan, customers were able to significantly reduce the time required to lift large tanks and mount ship propellers. We also achieved our highest ever levels of customer satisfaction.

[DAIKO/Product and application development] Tapping every possibility

If dreams came true with just a wish,
we would no longer dream.

[DAIKO/Product and application development] Tapping every possibility

If dreams came true with just a wish,
we would no longer dream.

Dreams are achieved through thought and strategy.

In order to become a company able to reliably meet the needs of the future, we are cultivating our ability to focus on the future. For example, the moment we perceived wire rope not only as a line but also as planes and spaces, the possibilities for its usage grew dramatically. By making use of curves, wire rope can be used to make daily necessities, and it also becomes possible to find new value in it as beautifully designed object. We aim to pioneer the markets of the future by looking at wire rope from a variety of perspectives and including a sense of playfulness. Conversely, we are continuing to strategize based on our competitive advantages and the extent to which various markets are oligopolies, as well as based on legal perspectives. And we will continue to look at dreams as something other than a mere academic exercise.

we will reach the top.

[DAIKO/Industry outreach and ISO certification] Ensuring safety

Casting our gaze across the entire industry,
we will reach the top.

Showing the entire industry the value of safety and reliability.

Safety and reliability. The value of these two things cannot be kept by us alone. We believe that the value of wire rope itself is raised when the companies involved in manufacturing wire rope – materials producers and machining companies – as well as the clients who use wire rope all strive for a high level of safety and reliability. For example, we were the first to implement information campaigns targeting industry groups such as the Japan Wire Rope Association, the Rope Processing Cooperative Association, and the Osaka Wire Rope Association, and we continue to do so today. In addition, we were also the first company in the industry to achieve ISO 9002 certification. (Having achieved our initial goal of attaining ISO, we have now relinquished our certification and have transitioned to using an internal quality management system.)

We are the first to face new challenges.
From our position as an industry leader, we must take the initiative in striving to increase the value of safety and reliability. This is our belief, and through promoting company-wide workshops and the acquisition of national qualifications (such as the Rope Processing Technician qualification), we are focusing on creating an environment where each and every employee is able to proactively face the challenges of safety and reliability. Further, we are utilizing our company intranet to provide employees with a space where they can share opinions with each other as part of their everyday routine. We are constantly engaged in inputting new knowledge and ways of thinking in order to cultivate ways of thinking about safety and reliability, which have proven essential no matter the era.

[DAIKO/Technological capabilities, fast turnaround, low cost] Fostering seamless self-confidence

For our engineers,
a difference of 0.5 mm means everything.

[DAIKO/Technological capabilities, fast turnaround, low cost] Fostering seamless self-confidence

For our engineers,
a difference of 0.5 mm means everything.

Quality is a product of pride.

We live in a world of manufacturing, and for us, the refinement of skills is the key organizational asset. That is why our engineers do not content themselves with the status quo and are always striving to improve their skills. Our hand knitting processing is just one of our skills which have surprised companies at home and abroad. The process, which involves interweaving several strands of rope, is charged with the spirit and sense of beauty held by our craftspeople, who believe in achieving the utmost degree of uniformity in their works. This pride they take has earned Daiko a reputation for our proprietary technical abilities and has made so many of our clients happy, particularly for our unique processing of high breaking load wire rope. In addition, through mentor relationships, the pride of our engineers, handed down through our company’s over half century of history, continues to be inherited by younger generations, supporting our technical skills and abilities.

New investments lead to new expertise.
We are always proactively investing in machinery and facilities. We made the decision to lead the industry in introducing computer systems and fax machines – now standard in business. In support of this initiative, we aim to accumulate diverse knowhow and create new value by also striving to take the lead in improving our own technical abilities. Just a few years ago, we introduced a winding machine which uses laser-based measuring. Even in Japan, only a very few manufacturers carry this equipment, and with it we have succeeded in virtually eliminating errors in measuring wire rope length.
Combining “fast delivery/low cost” and “high quality.”
In order to provide integrated management from estimate, ordering, and inventory check up to instructions and delivery, we introduced a CP core system. We achieved efficient and error-less inventory management through the use of a specially developed management system. In addition, we have drastically improved work efficiency in our warehouse by mechanizing the intake and discharge of products. The total weight of products stocked at each of our offices reaches some 2,500 tons. As the monthly demand for wire rope in all of Japan is said to be approximately 6,000 tons, our system also serves as infrastructure which supports Japanese technology and engineering.

laser-based measurement _
Practically unique in Japan. By introducing this winding machine, we succeeded in reducing wire rope measuring errors to within just ± 0.05%.
Presses

We are able to offer a diverse lineup of products thanks to our ability to do press work matched to product usage and purpose using 4,200 ton and 1,500 ton presses, among others.
LED lighting
In our offices and even on our factory floors, we use LED lighting rather than mercury vapor lamps. By maintaining a brightness which ensures visibility, we create an environment that reduces mistakes and defects.
Stock Variation
In areas such as large scale welders, automatic racks (2,800 tons), 100 ton tensile testing machines, rotating vices, turn tables, and automatic wire rope cutters as well, we always keep facilities investment in view in order to improve our engineering.

[DAIKO/Sales capabilities and connections] Creating warm relationships

Even the most advanced
technology requires a human touch.

Building relationships of trust through heart-to-heart connections.

Our value doesn’t stop just at supplying a product. And dry company-to-company relationships are not our style. Building long-lasting relationships of trust through heart-to-heart connections is how Daiko approaches business. We offer optimum product choices and construction methods by not only traveling to actual construction sites and basing things on such factors as construction blueprints and the surrounding environment but also by going the extra mile and maintaining close relationships with our clients.

Total management created
based on our beliefs.

We honor relationships of trust and value connections. This sentiment has expanded the range of areas in which we help our customers. We don’t stop at selling a product; we have also accumulated an extensive track record in reliable design and safe construction. Currently, we provide total management, from planning and design to construction, through staff thoroughly versed in the characteristics of the products involved, not only concerning methods of utilizing wire rope required on the shop floors and at the work sites of construction machinery, ships, general contractors, and steel manufacturers, but also as regards the “Talurit Combi System” used in recreation facilities such as playground equipment, stage equipment, athletics, and protective netting.

We find solutions to challenges
without being limited only to
what is possible.

We meet the needs of our clients by approaching their challenges from a variety of ways of thinking and without choosing any one solution, including going so far as to arrange products (such as crane ropes) from overseas manufacturers if the situation requires. Some of the challenges our clients bring us carry requirements not normally provided for by domestic manufacturers. However, we believe that it is the difficult road that will lead us to the future, and by repeatedly gathering and analyzing information, we open the doors to achieving the solutions needed. We now deploy dedicated staff to take charge of purchasing both domestically and internationally, strengthening our bargaining power overseas. We provide efficient management, from the usage of on-site facilities to transportation schemes.

The depth of our connections encourages
the breadth of our connections.

Daiko started out as a manufacturer and general contractor dealer handling industrial machinery such as hoist cranes. Simply striving to improve our technical abilities and relationships of trust earned us a reputation for excellence and lead to major steel manufacturers and general contractors calling on us to collaborate with them. Taking advantage of these opportunities, we changed our business model from wholesaling to direct sales. And in doing so we have come to establish our position in the business-to-business market as the go-to wire rope leader. In the past few years, the technical abilities of our firm have been featured in various media, including television, and we have expanded the scope of our activities, such as the awareness of our brand among general consumers and expanding business into the business-to-consumer market.
